I just found what seems to be genital warts on the anal region. Do I need to go to the emergency?
I just found several small formations of skin just around the anal area. I surfed on the Internet and it looks like what I have is genital warts. But I am not sure. I have light itchiness in the area. I don’t have any pain. Should I go to the emergency? I don’t remember feeling these yesterday when I washed myself and it seems like they emerged over night.
Did I get this from my boyfriend? I broke up with my boyfriend about 2 months ago and as far as I know we are very monogamous and conservative in dating. Before I met him, I had a test done for all STDs and I was absolutely clean. He says he thought he didn’t have any STDs but "it’s been a while" since he got any test of that kind. At this point, I am not certain if these are actually genital warts, but the pictures and the descriptions on the Internet are similar. I want to know if I need emergency treatment or if I can wait for a week or so. It’s Friday after the office hours, I will have to travel for business all next week from Monday to Friday and can’t get to a doctor’s office until Monday after next.
I am self-employed and I only have a medical plan that covers surgeries and hospitalization. I haven’t seen a doctor for about 3 years. I moved to the area I now live in 4 years ago and I have not found a family physician yet. I want to avoid medical expenses as much as I can. I am considering seeing a gynocologyst and get other checks done that are overdue such as papsmear.

I am sorry that you have discovered genital warts.
These warts are caused by HPV aka Human Papillomavirus and it is possible that your ex boyfriend has the virus and passed it on to you. This is a sneaky virus as often it does not have any symptoms and it can lie dormant in a person and the will never get genital warts but that person can still pass it on to someone else and they can get warts. The only way to determine if anyone has HPV is via a HPV test and there is not one of these for men.
The virus can also lie dormant in your body for a while and you will not develop the warts until your immune system weakens like if you are pregnant, stressed out or sick. The virus then activates when your immune system is weak and it makes the warts grow.
There are ways that you can get rid of genital warts from home without having to visit a doctor and I will put a link to this into the source box for this answer.
But it is important to get a Pap Smear as the virus that caused genital warts can also cause cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is treatable if caught early but if you do not catch it early it can be deadly.

It’s probably not an emergent situation, but you should see your primary care physician right away. Another possibility might be hemorrhoids. Either way, you should not engage in intercourse until you are able to talk with your doctor and have the lesions inspected by a professional.
